Cardiology

What is Cardiology?
Cardiology is the medical specialty concerned with the diagnosis, treatment and management of disorders of the cardiovascular system--the heart, arteries and veins. Since cardiology is classified as an internal medicine subspecialty, cardiologists must have knowledge of internal medicine as well as other specialties.

Many cardiologists may also have additional training in a specific area (or subspecialty) of cardiology, such as echocardiography, electrophysiology, nuclear cardiology and interventional cardiology.
