What is Family Practice?
Family practice is the medical specialty which provides continuing
and comprehensive health care for the individual as well as the
family; adults and children. The family practice physician tends
to emphasizes disease prevention and health promotion along treatment
of illness.
At the core of family practice is the patient-physician relationship
with the patient viewed in the context of the family; family physicians
value and nurture these relationships within the context of a patients
overall health. The family physician serves, many times, as first
contact for patients; as the initial provider, the family physician
is in a position to form a bond with the patient. The family physician
refers the patient when indicated to specialists while preserving
continuity of care.

physician has special areas of interest, but all three treat adults
