History & Vision

The art of practicing medicine has existed since the beginning of recorded history. As knowledge increased, so did medicinal methods and effectiveness. An intense interest in how the human body functions and a passion for people have always been key elements that move the health care improvement meter – and still are today.

In the 1964, an internal medicine physician opened Tifton Medical Clinic – and thus began the vision of building a medical practice comprised of well-trained, board-certified physicians. Combining his knowledge as an internist with compassion and a commitment to community, the practice flourished.

A series of building expansions serve as testament to growth: in 1969 the practice relocated to a 3,600 square foot building across the street from the new hospital – and proved to be
the first of several expansions over the years. Eventually, standing at 15,000 square feet,
the facility provided room for additional specialists and sub-specialists; in keeping with Affinity’s attentive philosophy, support staff and medical services continued to increase -
all contributing to the quality heath care equation.

In the late 1990’s, tremendous growth served as impetus for a new vision: in order for the practice to reach its full potential a new facility needed to be built. "Affinity Health Group" was born from the firm foundation of Tifton Medical Clinic. A new three-floor, 80,000 square foot building was constructed at the crossroads of Highway 41 and Interstate 75. Featuring an outpatient walk-in clinic, cardiology, pediatrics, radiology and oncology to complement existing specialties and services, Affinity brings the region comprehensive health care services. Visiting physicians round out available medical specialties by bringing services such as rhuematology, obstetrics & gynecology and cardiovascular surgery to Affinity’s patients.
